Tozour Energy Systems Supports Launch of Philadelphia 2030 District
Tozour Energy Systems supported Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, executives from Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability and Philadelphia Energy Authority in the launch of the Philadelphia 2030 District on Thursday, Oct. 26.
The launch of the 2030 District brings together Philadelphia utility and energy service companies, community organizations, and property owners and managers in a pledge to achieve substantial reductions in energy and water use and transportation emissions by the year 2030. The DVGBC is leading the initiative.
As a resource partner, Tozour is able to demonstrate to property owners the value of high-performing, cost-effective energy services. Energy service systems like Tozour can provide resources to property owners and managers that will lessen their properties’ environmental impact by tracking and improving upon energy efficiency, as well as provide cost savings.
“We’re proud to be a part of a commitment to sustainable building practices that unites city partners across Philadelphia,” said Kevin Duffy, president of Tozour Energy Systems. “Tozour is happy to do its part in helping to make a greener, more sustainable Philadelphia for all.”
Investing in the 2030 District creates an opportunity for members and partners to reduce the region’s climate impact. This initiative will also serve as a catalyst to implement best practices for building sustainability. Currently, the city’s building sector produces 60 percent of Philadelphia’s carbon emissions, which impact climate change, and the average building wastes 30 percent of its energy.
With this launch, Philadelphia will join more than 17 cities that are part of the 2030 District Network. To learn more about the Philadelphia 2030 District, please visit www.2030districts.org/philadelphia.
